How to Join Zed Corp. Hard-faced Liners
Since the weld overlay hardfaced liners are composite materials, the joining electrodes used for base metal side and weld overlay side by manual metal arc welding would also be entirely different. Besides the judicious selection of welding electrodes, the welding procedure also needs proper attention.
Experience at Zed Corp. has led to the development of a suitable joining methodology, which is given below:
- Prior to welding, bead direction and bead symmetry of the two pieces of hard-faced liners to be joined, must be matched.
- Both the edges to be joined should be prepared, using a double V groove.
- Linear alignment, or proper geometrical fitment, should be achieved with the help of āLā shaped clamps and tapered wedges.
- For the root run on both sides, Low-hydrogen type joining electrode should be used.
- Then use antiwear electrode, must be deposited to fill up the groove.
- Hard Faced Liner protect buckets, fan blades & liners, cyclones, Flat back elbows, slurry mixers, rock chutes & guards, screw conveyors, scrapers, plow shoes, and any other surface where conventional hardfacing has been used.
- If necessary, can be applied with epoxy or silicon type adhesives where heavy pressure, heat, and impact are not major considerations.
